What changes the price of Meta ads management?
Two agencies can quote very different fees for what sounds like the same job. These are the reasons.
How the fee is calculated
A flat retainer, a share of ad spend and a share of results behave differently as you grow. A retainer stays the same, a percentage of spend rises with your budget, and a share of profit rises only when you earn. The model matters more than the headline number.
Your ad budget
Percentage fees follow spend. At a ₹2,00,000 monthly budget, 7–20% is ₹14,000–₹40,000. At ₹10,00,000, the same percentages are ₹70,000–₹2,00,000. Agencies often have a minimum fee below which they will not take the account.
Creative production
Ad creative is usually what limits results. Some fees include designers, editors and UGC creators, and some leave you to supply them. Ask what is included and how many new ads you get each month.
Tracking and reporting
Correct pixel and conversion set-up, plus reporting you can follow, takes real time. Cheap fees often skip it, and bad tracking makes every number unreliable.
Scope beyond Meta
Google ads, landing pages, email and organic social each add work. A retainer that covers everything costs more than one for Meta alone.
Who works on your account
A senior strategist and a junior media buyer are priced differently. Ask who will run your campaigns day to day.
How do the pricing models compare?
None is right for everyone. Which suits you depends on your margins and how well your sales can be tracked.
| Compared on | Monthly retainer | % of ad spend | Pay-for-performance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical range in India | ₹50,000–₹3.5L+ a month | 7–20% of spend | Varies by agency; ours is 5% of profit |
| The agency earns more when | The contract continues | You spend more | You make more profit |
| Who carries the risk of poor results | You | Mostly you | Shared |
| Cost predictability | High | Medium | Lower: moves with your results |
| Needs reliable sales tracking | No | No | Yes |
| Best for | Broad work that cannot be tied to a sale | Large, stable budgets | D2C and e-commerce brands selling online |
What does each model cost at the same ad budget?
A worked example for a brand spending ₹2,00,000 a month on ads. Ad spend goes to Meta in every case, so the table shows only the agency's fee.
| Model | Agency fee per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| Retainer | ₹50,000–₹3.5L+ | ₹6L–₹42L+ |
| % of ad spend (7–20%) | ₹14,000–₹40,000 | ₹1.68L–₹4.8L |
| Pay-for-performance | 5% of profit; ₹0 if no profit | Depends on results |
- Monthly retainer₹50,000–₹3.5L+
- % of ad spend₹14,000–₹40,000
- Pay-for-performance5% of profit; ₹0 if no profit
Freelancer, agency or in-house: what do you get?
| Compared on | Freelancer | Agency | In-house hire |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Usually lowest | Retainer, % of spend or share of results | About ₹7.9L–₹17.5L a year in salary, plus tools and creative (Glassdoor India, 2026) |
| Time to start | Days to weeks | Days to a few weeks | Weeks to months to hire and onboard |
| Skills | One person's | A team: strategist, buyer, creative | One person's; others may be needed |
| Main risk | Availability and depth | Shared attention across clients | You carry salary whether or not it works |
What hidden and ongoing costs should you plan for?
The ad budget itself
The agency fee is not your marketing cost. Your ad spend is paid to Meta and is usually the larger number.
Creative and UGC
Photoshoots, video editing and creator fees are sometimes billed separately. Ask whether they sit inside the fee.
Landing page and store fixes
Ads send people to your store. If the store converts poorly, better ads will not fix it. Budget for improvements.
Contract terms
Check minimum terms, notice periods and who owns the ad account. The ad account and pixel should be in your name.
Time to see results
Month one is set-up. Expect little revenue while tracking and creative are built, then testing, then scaling. A fee that begins on day one is paying for that foundation work.
What does pSkyro Labs charge for Meta ads?
pSkyro Labs charges 5% of the profit the campaigns make. Profit means sales times your profit margin, minus the ad budget. If the campaigns make no profit, you pay no fee. There is no fixed fee and no retainer, and your ad budget is separate and paid to Meta.
Here is a worked example. A brand with 40% margins sells ₹10,00,000 through ads on a ₹3,00,000 budget. Gross profit is ₹4,00,000, so profit after the ad budget is ₹1,00,000 and the fee is ₹5,000. If the same budget brought in ₹7,00,000 of sales, profit would be negative and the fee would be zero. It is an illustration, not a quote.
This works best for brands selling online with tracking we can trust, which is why we start with the tracking. Our proof comes from brands that sell across India, the US, New Zealand and Australia, including Novo Shoes and Diya Diya. Our studio is in Bhopal; see performance marketing in Bhopal and our performance marketing service. The model is explained in what is performance marketing.

Questions people ask.
How much do Meta ads agencies charge in India?
Typically ₹50,000–₹3.5L+ a month as a retainer, or 7–20% of monthly ad spend (social101.in and metamktgagency.com pricing guides, 2025–2026). Your ad budget is paid to Meta on top.
What percentage do agencies take from ad spend?
The guides we cite put it at 7–20% of monthly ad spend. At a ₹2,00,000 budget that is ₹14,000–₹40,000 a month.
What is the minimum budget to hire a Meta ads agency?
There is no single figure. Agencies set their own minimums, and percentage fees need a large enough budget to be worth the work. Meta itself needs about 50 optimisation events per ad set in 7 days to exit its learning phase, so a very small budget learns slowly.
Is pay-for-performance cheaper than a retainer?
It depends on your results. If campaigns make no profit, pay-for-performance costs nothing. If they do well, the fee grows. A retainer costs the same either way. Our comparison page shows the numbers side by side.
How does pSkyro Labs charge for Meta ads?
5% of the profit the campaigns make, where profit is sales times profit margin minus the ad budget. No profit, no fee. No fixed fee or retainer. The ad budget is separate and paid to Meta.
Does the agency fee include the ad budget?
No. In every model the ad budget is paid to Meta and the fee is paid to the agency.
Should I hire in-house instead?
A performance-marketing manager costs about ₹7.9L–₹17.5L a year in salary (Glassdoor India, 2026), before tools and creative. In-house suits brands with heavy, steady ad spend. See our in-house vs agency comparison.
Are there other costs besides the fee and ad budget?
Yes. Creative, landing page improvements and tools can be extra. Ask for each to be listed.
