What are UGC ads?

Definition: UGC ads are ads that use user-generated content, meaning videos and photos made by real customers or creators, instead of polished studio creative.

UGC ads use content made by real customers or creators, run as paid ads. They look like a recommendation instead of an advertisement. pSkyro Labs runs creator and Partnership Ads for D2C brands, testing new creative about every two weeks and keeping what lowers cost per purchase.

How do UGC ads work?

A customer or creator films a product in normal use. The brand gets rights to the content and runs it as an ad, either from the brand's account or through Meta's Partnership Ads, where the ad runs with the creator's handle. The format suits reels and stories, where polished ads feel out of place.

Why use UGC in ads?

It adds authenticity and trust at the moment of purchase, and it gives you many hooks to test cheaply. Each batch of new creative is tracked with UTM parameters and judged on CTR, frequency, engagement and conversion efficiency.

Do you need big influencers?

No. Micro and small creators often work well in retargeting, where the viewer already knows the brand. Pay attention to usage rights and disclosure, and to whether the creator's audience matches your buyers. Brief creators on the product and the one thing to show, but let them speak in their own words: scripted UGC loses the reason it works.

How are UGC ads measured?

Like any ad: cost per purchase and ROAS, not likes. Retire a creative when it shows fatigue and replace it with fresh variations.

A real example: Novo Shoes

Inside Novo Shoes' retargeting, pSkyro Labs ran Partnership Ads with micro and small creators, typically with 5,000–10,000 followers. Creator-led lifestyle videos, outfit-of-the-day content, vacation reels and airport fashion content consistently beat product-focused ads in testing. The account returned 6.93× purchase ROAS in April 2026 (Meta Ads Manager, Meta-attributed).
