What is UI/UX design?

Definition: UI/UX design shapes how a digital product works for its users (UX) and how its screens look and respond (UI), so people can reach their goal easily.

UI/UX design is the work of making a website or app easy to use and pleasant to look at. UX decides the flow and structure; UI designs the screens people see. pSkyro Labs delivers user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, a clickable prototype and a design system.

What is the difference between UI and UX?

UX (user experience) is about how the product works: the steps a person takes, how things are organised, where they might get stuck. UI (user interface) is about what they see and touch: layout, colour, type, buttons and states. UX asks whether the path makes sense. UI asks whether each screen is clear and consistent.

What does a UI/UX designer deliver?

User flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, a clickable prototype and, for larger products, a design system. The prototype lets you test the idea before developers build it, which is cheaper than changing finished code.

What is a design system?

A shared set of components, colour, type and grid. New pages are assembled from parts that already exist, and developers get the same specification each time.

When do you need UI/UX design?

Before building a new website, app or SaaS product, when users drop off at a particular step, or when many pages have drifted into different styles. Good UX work also saves money later, because a confusing flow found in a prototype costs far less to fix than one found after launch. Start by watching how real people try to complete the main task, then design for what you saw.

Real examples: RAK and Shoplinky

For RAKwireless, an IoT and LoRaWAN® company, pSkyro Labs designed the website UI/UX and a design system so gateways, sensor hubs, antennas and developer guides read as one product family. For Shoplinky, a creator-marketing platform, we designed the marketing website and platform UI, including an AI campaign builder that goes from a product link to a brief, creator selection and outreach. We have not published usage or conversion numbers for either.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

What does UI/UX stand for?

UI is user interface. UX is user experience.

Are UI and UX the same job?

They overlap, and many designers do both. UX focuses on flow and usability; UI on visual design.

Do I need UX design for a simple website?

A small site needs lighter UX work, mostly clear structure and navigation. Apps and platforms need more.

What is a prototype?

A clickable mock-up of the product that lets people try it before it is built.

Can you design and build?

Yes. We design and develop websites, apps and products under one roof.
